TheGathering Flashback

Teaching Series: 5 Ways to Be Awesome (week 2 of 6)
Sermon in a sentence: One way we follow Jesus is to not play favorites.

Understandable Message: Just like a flat basketball is unable to function like it is supposed to, when we have no action with what we believe we are not functioning like we are supposed to as followers of Jesus. James 2:1-13 makes it very clear that if we judge, make assumptions or show favoritism to someone based on appearance then we are sinning. It's not that you can't have a close group of friends, but how do you treat the outsiders? Why do we show favoritism? 1. We are selfish 2. We are uncomfortable 3. We are envious 4. We don't like to be stretched So what do we do? 1. Savor your salvation (remember what God has done for us) 2. Survey the situation (in what areas of your life do you show favoritism) 3. See your responsibility (you are an agent of grace) 4. Stretch and Serve
