I HATE COUNTRY MUSIC, BUT....

I can't believe I would even put a country video on this
blog....but I really connected to this song. We are often
ready and waiting for tomorrow. Ready to get to the
next season in life. Maybe it's getting out of high school
and going to college...maybe it's graduating from college...
maybe it's getting married and starting a family, getting a
real job and buying a house. Maybe it's retiring!
Whatever it is we are often not satisfied just to live today.
I would encourage you, and myself, to appreciate today.
Don't miss what is going on in your life now because you
are waiting for something to happen tomorrow! Live life
to the fullest today! (I am even amazed country music
could teach me something)

March Madness

I have to tell you that March is my favorite time of the year.  I love selection Sunday where the 65 teams are named and the bracket is completed.  Usually within minutes I have already filled out my bracket predicting who will win each round (I have to admit I usually fill out several...never feeling real good about any of them).  But one of the reasons I love watching the NCAA tournament is because every team believes they have an opportunity to win.  Whether it is the 15th seeded Belmont team playing Duke or the 6th seeded Oklahoma, they all play to win and believe that they can.

Do you really believe that you are going to win?  Do you really believe that God wins?  I wonder what the disciples believed on the day when Christ was crucified.  Did they believe it was over?  That they had lost?  That Jesus was not who he said he was?  What a tough time for those men who had been walking with Jesus.  However, in only a few days Jesus is ALIVE!  God won!  We win!  I wonder what it would look like if we lived knowing that.  That He has power over the evil one and that we can accomplish what he has set before us.  Have faith.  Be strong.  Believe!  As we recognize tomorrow what happened on the cross, remember it may be Friday, but Sundays coming!

No Gathering @ the vine March 26th

Just wanted to let you all know that the bonfire scheduled for the gathering on march 26th has been canceled. The field is flooded and it does not look like it is going to let up any time soon. Also if you did not know they have started putting the new floor into the gym and the teen center. Therefore there is no place for us to gather. It would be great to see you all at the good Friday service this Friday at 7 pm in the sanctuary. Also don't forget the love with action delivery next Wednesday!

Happy Birthday

It is amazing to me, that this month marks the 10th anniversary of the mp3 player.  I think that my daughter Kenedee (2) may never even know what a CD is.  Do you have an mp3 player?  If so what one do you listen to?  Also do a random play or a shuffle and comment what your first 5 songs are?
This is my list:

1. The world at Large - Modest Mouse
2. I could run away - Waterdeep
3. Don't stop till you get enough - michael jackson
4. Good Evening - John Reuben
5. A rush of blood to the head - Coldplay

Follow the Leader

Last summer I was at the zoo with my family when I noticed this going on...I had to get it on video!  I try and learn from everything, here is what I took away from it:

Do you ever feel like you are doing things just because everyone else is doing it?  Do you ever feel like you wish you could just be yourself?  I believe God has created us all unique and different.  Start asking God who he made you to be and then be it.  Break away from the crowd...be bold...be different...be who God made you to be.

Tired of the Weather

I think Kenedee is getting tired of the winter and dreaming of spending time in the sun...oh it's great to be able to pretend!  I am right there with her!

Thanks for the Memories

I have to admit...today is a sad day for me.  One of the greatest football players ever has called it quits: Brett Favre.  I didn't grow up as a Packers fan but I always looked up to and admired Favre.  I wanted to watch him play ever time I had the opportunity.  Not only because he is one of the greatest to ever play the game, but because of the way he played it.  He never took a game off...or even a down!  He gave everything he had to the game he loved and he always seemed to have fun doing it.  Football will not be the same without him.  Favre has left a lasting legacy that he will always be remembered by...he will never be forgotten as a football player or as a person.
What about you?  Do you put everything you have into every day...into those relationships that are important to you...to those things you feel like God has called you to do?  What will you be remembered for when your days are done?

Who do you need to love?

I think we sometimes like to pick and choose what part of the scriptures we want to follow.  Maybe we just focus on the ones we feel like we can do.  However....I want to take the words of Jesus seriously and love those people in my life that are the hardest for me to love.  God has extended his love and grace to everyone...shouldn't we.  Who is it in your life that it is difficult for you to love? What action can you take in you life to show that person love?  Today!
