Starbucks closes for 3 hours

Starbucks closed the doors at its 7,100 stores across America for a brief barista re-education.

CEO Howard Schultz announced the three-hour closure starting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday to energize 135,000 employees.

Wow...can you imagine all of the money that was lost by closing for 3 hours. However, Schultz understood the importance of stopping everything to get it right. What do you need to stop doing and spend time with God? Could you put Him as your top priority and and get energized by being with the creator of the universe. If it was important enough for startbucks to stop and get refocused on what is really important...shouldn't we slow down and realize what is really important?

Blast 08

Those who are attending blast this year need to be at Ferguson Church of the Nazarene by 5:30 pm on March 7th.  We will be together from there until the next day at 6 pm, when you can be picked up at Trinity Church.  You must sign up at the Gathering if you are planning on attending blast.  Don't forget it is $5!  Bring your sleeping bag and pillow and anything else you will need to spend the night at church friday night.

Court Time

I spent about 4 hours today at a juvenile court waiting with a friend who was a victim of assault and robbery.  As I sat there, several young boys were brought into the courtroom.  I listened as one plead guilty to possession of drugs and robbery, another walked in with shackles on his feet and finally the young man walked in that had robbed my friend.  He sat in his chair with his face toward the ground and an emptiness on his face...he ended up pleading guilty to stealing from a person, a felony, and will now face the consequences.  The entire time I couldn't stop thinking about how the decisions we make effect us and can effect us for the rest of our lives.  My heart hurt for these young men as I thought about what there future was going to look like.  Understand that the decisions you make today will effect you tomorrow.  Do your best to make wise decisions...ask God to give you wisdom in your life.

New Leeland CD

Check out Leeland's new cd "Opposite Way"...releases this tuesday the 26th.

No Easy Button

Don't you wish sometimes we had an easy button to push in life.  The truth is life is hard...there are difficult things that happen to us all the time and how we respond shows a lot about where we are in our relationship with Christ.  Next time something tough happens, don't look for the easy button but ask God what he wants to do in the situation.  Remember...God is good all the time!

Scarred Series Week 1 - Admitting you have scars

Wednesday night we began a new series called "Scarred". We are looking at the scars we have in our life...not so much physical, but emotional and relational. We are looking at the scars we have on our heart and our soul. With most of the physical scars we have there is a story behind it, the same is true with our emotional and relational scars. We began by understanding that it is important to admit that we have pain in our past and because of those pains, we are being effected by them even today. I tried to express that I know that they hurt....because I hurt...because our other adults hurt. Click on the pics below to read their scar stories. This is also an opportunity to share your scars. Leave a comment....share what scars you have from your past. This can be done totally anonymously.

Matthew 5:44

Jesus said in the sermon on the mount, "But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you." I was thinking about it today: Valentines Day, the day of love, and how easy it is to love those who love us, to love those we get something from. I want to love those I disagree with, those I am not like, those who are struggling with sin in their life, those who hurt me and disappoint me...I want to love like Jesus loved. I challenge you to love those who are difficult for you to love today, because through that love they may be introduced to the living God.
